HOKA ONE ONE AUSTRALIA ISOLATION RUNNING FESTIVAL 2020 WRAP-UP

We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who ran with us over the weekend whether you ran, cheered, supported or followed along online.

You can find the full results for all distances here https://www.hoka-shoes.com

This, our first ever HOKA ONE ONE Australia event, attracted runners hungry for a challenge and that uplift we all get from this community. You were asked to stay safe and respect all of your local social distancing regulations and in doing so took to the pavement, neighbourhood streets, treadmills, backyards, apartments and trails.

“This was exactly what this over worked teacher needed! Thank you for an awesome event!” – Lydia

“It was a ball knowing so many people were running virtually with me from all over the globe.” – Hamish

“Thank you so much for putting the fun in ISO.” – Kirsten

You told us about new PBs, some runners doing their first ever race, their first ever virtual race, kids running with parents for the first time, some runners going further than they ever had before, and even spelling HOKA with their 100km maps on STRAVA, and all with big smiles on. We can’t thank you enough for joining us.

Participants ran in every state and territory of Australia, as well as almost 20 countries around the world including Denmark, Portugal, Zimbabwe, Brazil, the USA and Thailand. At last count, our small and very hardworking team received and processed 1,037 finisher results. The all-embracing tone for the festival was set by David King with his worldly Welcome to Country, a moment we were privileged to share with running friends near and far.

We want to thank the stellar lineup of global athletes from the United States who joined us in total solidarity:
– Sage Canaday Ran hundreds of laps of his tiny loft apartment in Boulder
– Jim Walmsley Backed up with a marathon after running for CoVid-19 relief
– Tim Tollefson Hammered mountainside loops in Mammoth, California
– Darcy Piceu Completed 100km in an explosive electrical Colorado storm after a 100-mile training week
– Mike Wardian The only guy who seems to have raced more in 2020 than 2019, accomplished a dream by taking out the Arlington Loop and Double Arlington Loop Fastest Known Times (pending) during his final 64km of racing.
– Sarah Crowley Who created a fantastic video of her 10km run complete with improvised finish line.

All 41 runners who completed the 100km HOKA ISO Slam rose to a very different challenge than they’d ever been given – running 3 increasing distances at varied intensities on Saturday, before putting tired bodies over 64km on Sunday. Special congratulations to Amanda Meggison (9:35:37) and Dion Finocchiaro (6:29:23) for the fastest cumulative times.
We also had six families complete the Family Slam, with one family member competing in each of the four distances.

Almost 200 treadmill runners had a great time virtually racing each other on custom built courses in Zwift wearing tiny digital pairs of HOKA.
And Aussie media partners at Adventure+ will soon be streaming some films that we featured (special offer on TrailRun Mag & streaming adventure channel here )

And we are so grateful to run coaches Kerry and Ali from SquadRun whose commentary and athlete interviews throughout the festival were both entertaining and enlightening. And of course our all-star interviewer-runner-interviewee Michelle Cooper who ran out of roles to fill, as well as Pei Pei our dumpling chef.

Over two days we were united. We were motivated and inspired all in the pursuit of running. Together, apart.

We thank every single one of you who ran with us during this event. Thank you again for an unforgettable festival, there’s every chance we’ll consider doing this again, even during a time when social distancing is no longer required.

It’s always Time To Fly!
